Since the Omicron variant is spreading speedily, GOP and Democratic governors are continuously working to lift its strain in hospitals. Recent reports have revealed that the respected authorities are now reinstating emergency health orders in an effort to alleviate the infection rate.
Officials from various states have declared executive measures, most of which are renewed emergency orders that have been effective when the pandemic was on its peak previously. However, this time these orders don’t include strict lockdowns and market closures because they have been devastating for the economy before. These renewed orders are designed to free up resources, letting the state to prepare for the patient influx in hospitals.
Phil Murphy, the Governor of New Jersey, advised the state that they had to commit every resource that is available for beating the new variant. He further ensured no impact of these declarations on everyday life of people.
In Maryland, Governor Larry Hogan already issued a state of emergency for 30 days. It is intended to assist the health officials across the state in their response to the Omicron surge. Similarly, Gov. Ralph Northam from Virginia and Gov. Laura Kelly in Kansas have issued a month-long and 15-day emergency declarations respectively.
A record number of COVID-19 cases have been reported in the USA during this Omicron wave. The variant is not as deadly as the previously reported ones. However, it is infecting more and more people causing the hospitals to run out of spaces. Also, an increasing number of health officers are getting sick. Therefore, the situation demands the government to take necessary actions. These emergency orders have been declared with an hope to alleviate the public rush in hospitals and better the pandemic situation.
