The world’s no. 2 destination moved to the highest travel risk level by CDC

Recently, the CDC’s risk levels for global destinations have been updated on their travel recommendations page and it has moved 8 places to the highest level of travel risk. What is even more shocking is that among these 8 places is the world’s no. 2 most visited nation before the pandemic i.e. Spain. According to the World Tourism Organization in the United Nation, after France, Spain received the most visitors from all over the world. But now, in its weekly update, the CDC had advised people not to travel to Spain at this time.

Besides Spain, seven more places were included in this “Level-4: COVID-19 Very High” category that are; San Marino, Monaco, Gibraltar, Lebanon, Chad, Finland, and Bonaire. They were categorized so because they reported more than 500 cases registered per 100,000 residents in the last 28 days. Before this, Spain, Finland, and Lebanon were in the “Level 3: COVID-19 High” category but with the upsurge in the infection rate, they were moved up to level 4. In addition, Greece, Italy, the UK, and Germany are also listed in the Level 4 category. And it is a very alarming situation that requires immediate attention.

Several European countries are introducing new, strict restrictions to control the infection spread. For instance, the Netherlands had entered a strict lockdown and France had banned all non-essential visitors from the UK, etc. The governments are urging people to get vaccinated as soon as possible and practice preventive measures like social distancing, wearing face masks, and hand sanitizing, etc.
