With over 21,000 daily COVID cases, New York State has reported the largest number of cases in the whole pandemic
On Thursday, New York experienced the largest number of new COVID cases in a single day of the pandemic, with just over 21,000 new infections. Approximately 8% of all COVID tests were positive, which is nearly quadruple the percentage from only a few days prior.
The latest study comes as the United States confronts an increase in cases caused by the COVID delta form, as well as the rapid spread of the recently found omicron variation. Last week, Omicron accounted for 13.1 percent of all COVID cases in the New York and New Jersey region, according to the CDC. As a result, public health experts are recommending people to be vaccinated as soon as they are able. Vaccinated people who get a booster shot are better protected against COVID variants, according to research.
On Thursday, more than 129,000 vaccination doses were provided in New York to deal with this terrible scenario. Plus, all the live performances in New York like that of Rockette’s “Christmas Spectacular” at Radio City Music Hall and “Moulin Rouge! The Musical” on Broadway have already been cancelled.
